I wanted to take a moment to drop a line to any website visitors... I have had some time behind the scenes here to do a few website updates, maybe more time than I would like. However, I would be remiss if I didn't take a moment tell all of you that I miss all yinz and that my thoughts and prayers are with you, your families our little borough, our city, our country and this world. Things seem so different these last few weeks. I know if any of you are like me you may be going a little stir crazy. I want to encourage you to keep going, there are parts of this that are truly rough but it has been encouraging to receive so much positive feed back and to witness people helping one another everyday! We still have a ways to go so hang in there! As stated above I have been working on the website and will be rolling out a few things that will help you interact with H Lane virtually. I obviously cant wait to see your smiling or otherwise faces pop in for a cup of coffee very soon. In the mean time I look forward to the opportunity to serve you in new ways! Check back soon for more news and updates here by subscribing on the website or by following us on social media.

Every Saturday of each month, we invite you to perform at the cafe. This event is for all. Music, poetry, comedy, story telling, etc. We have a PA system for anyone who needs one, but the shop has great sound without it.

Let's all get together and have some fun and enjoy all the talent you guys have to offer.

The Seamstress Shop Is Open For Business!

May 19, 2018

Since our last update, we have been insanely busy making our vision a reality.

To keep costs as low as possible we have done much of it on our own with help from friends and family.

WOW...what a learning experience DIY-ing everything is. Putting your literal blood sweat and tears into something makes you appreciate the experience all the more.

In the midst of working other jobs, we have finished putting the flooring in and painting the ceiling and walls. We have also had some wonderful friends and family throughout this experience who have donated equipment, time and labor. We are so grateful for them, and for you all who are following us and encouraging us along the way!

Most recently, some friends came by to help us take down the awnings on the storefront so I could recover them. It was a challenge working with such a large amount of fabric, but very gratifying seeing the awnings once they were finished and back up on the front of the building. In the midst of that I have been getting the seamstress shop up and ready for opening, and I am finally ready now to accept any and all orders! So far I have taken commissions for alterations, heirloom gown repair, and one guy even commissioned me to recover the seats in his RV.

On the coffee shop side of things, permits are still holding us back a bit, which is why we have not made an opening date announcement yet. However, the space is almost done! We have had an electrician working with us, and this coming week the plumber will be coming to set up everything for our sinks and our coffee bar top is being stained and finished. I would be lying if I said it wasn't stressful. Opening a business is definitely not all sunshine and flowers, but it is exciting to see we are reaching the finish line.

We look forward to our next update being our opening date announcement!
